In the early nineteenth century, an infant America was increasing in population and expanding in the South until settlers were faced with the dilemma of the Native Americans. Anglo-Americans had two very distinct stances on how to deal with southern Indian tribes, particularly the Cherokee. One side was eager for land and developed the idea that Indians were both racially and culturally inferior and a hindrance to American progress, while on the other hand, some Americans believed that the Cherokee tribe was a sovereign, independent nation and that moral responsibility required the United States to protect them. Pro-removal Americans rallied behind leaders such as, Andrew Jackson and William Cass. Jackson’s patronizing attitude toward Native Americans was, based on his ideology that Native Americans were children in need of guidance. Jackson also advocated that the removal policy was beneficial to the Indians. Cass believed the Native Americans were unsophisticated and white settlers were racially superior. In his essay, Removal of the Indians, Cass depicts, â€Å"We doubt there is, upon the face of the globe, a more wretched race than the Cherokees, as well as the other southern tribes, present†¦. The Cherokee Removal, pg. 117). † Cass alluded to the underlying racism that piloted the argument for expulsion of the Cherokee. Many white settlers concurred with the belief that Indians were racial inferior and therefore white settlers and Native Americans could not live together. Cass also asserted in the same essay â€Å"A barbarous people, depending for subsistence upon the sanctity and precarious supplies furnished by the chase, cannot live in contact with a civilized community (The Cherokee Removal, pg. 116). Some Americans supported this because they deemed anything different than them as wrong. The pro-removal argument was justified thru the belief that race determined character. For some Anglo-Americans race made Native Americans menial and disposable. Americans against removal united behind the idea that the Native Americans were born on this land and should be left in peace. Jeremiah Evarts under the pen name, William Penn, in A Brief View of the Present Relations between the Government and People of the United States and the Indians within Our  National Limits, said, â€Å"Those Indian tribes and nations, which have remained under their own form of government, upon their own soil, and have never submitted themselves to the government of the whites, have a perfect right to retain their original form of government, or to alter it, according to their own views of convenience and property(The Cherokee Removal, pg. 106). †Evarts’ opposition to removal was based on the fact the Indians were born on the land and therefore it was rightfully theirs. He also pointed out, â€Å"For one hundred and fifty years, innumerable treaties were made between the English colonists and the Indians, upon the basis of the Indians being independent nations, and having a perfect right to their country and their form of government (The Cherokee Removal, pg. 106). † Evarts’ argument was that white settlers legally could not disregard treaties made with Native Americans for hundreds of years. Some Anglo-Americans knew removal of the Cherokee was unconstitutional and to renege on agreements made throughout history was morally incompetent. Catherine Beecher also advocated against Indian removal, writing, â€Å"Nor are we to think of these people only as naked and wandering savages. The various grades of intellect and refinement exist among them as among as (The Cherokee Removal, pg. 112). † Beecher and other Americans opposed removal because they did not believe it was morally righteous to degrade Indians because of race, they considered them people too, and respected the differences in both race and culture. Evarts and Anglo-Americans against removal foresaw the inhumanity of removal, Evarts stated, â€Å"The removal of any nation of Indians from their country by force would be an instance of gross and cruel oppression. (The Cherokee Removal, pg. 107). † Both perspectives on Indian removal had a few commonalities. Some people such as John Knox believed that, â€Å"the central premise of which was that United States Indian policy should make expansion possible without detriment to the Indians (The Cherokee Removal pg. 10). The only consistent agreement however was that the white settlers’ culture and Native American cultures would never successfully co-inhabit. Americans realized that the differences in culture would only continue to cause problems. However the differences was some believed the Indians should be forced west and others believed they should be left in peace. There was an agreement that the Cherokee were uncivilized and to some, even worse not Christian. Again there was another divide on the solution for the primitivism of the Cherokee. Some sought assimilation and of course, removal. In my final analysis, the Cherokee removal argument never reached a consensus, and like most political matters, was won by the most power hungry side. Due to a burgeoning population, racial bigotry, and the lack of centralized government enforcement of the 18th century the Cherokee were forced to leave their homes. The consequence was a forced tumultuous, cross-country walk, where they faced disease, hunger, and fatigue now known as the Trail of Tears. Thousands died, and the removal of the Cherokee had permanent affects on them, as well as all Native Americans.

The Deaths of Romeo And Juliet December 1st , 2010 The Deaths of Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare was the spectacular playwright who wrote Romeo and Juliet. The play is about â€Å"Two star-crossed lovers†, Romeo and Juliet, and how they keep their love a secret because their families are enemies. The forbidden lovers must go through obstacles to be together, and go as far as committing suicide because they are apart. Romeo and Juliet die as a result of Friar Laurence, Lord and Lady Capulet, and the couples own poor decision making. Friar Laurence's actions throughout the play resulted in Romeo and Juliet's deaths. First, Friar Laurence led them to their to death by agreeing to secretly wed them in order to potentially bring the families together. Friar Laurence says to Romeo: â€Å"In one respect I'll thy assistant be,/ for this alliance may so happy prove,/ to turn your households' rancor to pure love (2. 3. 97-99). Friar Laurence should have thought about the outcome before jumping to conclusions because he could have caused the feud between the Capulet's and Montagues' to become even worse. Secondly, Friar Laurence gives Juliet a sleeping potion so that she can be with Romeo. Friar Laurence commands Juliet: â€Å"Take thou this vial, being then in bed,/ and this distilled liquor drink thou off† (4. 1. 93-94). Friar Laurence should have thought of a better way for her to be with Romeo because he is putting both Juliet and his own life in danger. Lastly, the Friar leaves Juliet in the Capulet vault all by herself after she sees her only love dead on the ground. Friar says to Juliet: â€Å"Come, go, good Juliet-[Noise] I dare no longer stay† (5. 3. 9-10). The Friar should have stayed and comforted Juliet instead of being scared and nervous that he will be blamed for the death of Romeo. In the beginning Friar Laurence had tried to help Romeo and Juliet but instead ended up being one of the main reasons for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Lady and Lord Capulet also caused troubles that lead to the death of Romeo and Juliet. Firstly, Lord Capulet threatens Juliet to marry Paris which causes Juliet to seek help from Friar Laurence. Lord Capulet threatens Juliet: â€Å"Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! / I tell thee what, get thee to church o' Thursday,/ or never after look me in the face† (3. 5. 160-163). By saying this, Lord Capulet weakened his relationship with Juliet. Lord Capulet should have been more understanding and should have listened to Juliet's reason for why she could not marry Paris, before threatening her. Secondly, the Capulet's hate towards the Montagues' causes Juliet and Romeo to keep their love a secret. Nurse says to Juliet: â€Å"His name is Romeo, and a Montague; the only son of your great enemy† (1. 5. 135-136). The Capulet's should compromise with the Montague, so their families can be happy together. Lastly, there is no communication between Lady Capulet and Juliet. At one point in the play, Lady Capulet wants to talk to Juliet in private but calls the Nurse back for extra support. If Lady Capulet communicated with Juliet she would have known about Juliet's problems. Lady and Lord Capulet tried to be the best parents they could be, but instead they lead their only daughter and her only love into an early grave. Romeo and Juliet choose poor decisions throughout the play that cause their own deaths. Firstly, they decide to get married the first day they meet each other. Juliet asks Romeo: â€Å"Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow† (2. . 144). This was a very poor decision by the couple because they are not truly in love and the only thing they know about each other is that there families are enemies. Secondly, Romeo and Juliet did not communicate with each other. Juliet asks the Nurse: â€Å"O God! Did Romeo's hand shed Tybalt's blood? † (3. 2. 77). Romeo should have told Juliet right away because they are married. If Romeo h ad communicated with Juliet right away she would have known why romeo killed Tybalt, her cousin. Lastly Romeo and Juliet both decide to kill themselves without thinking of other choices. At the end of the story, Romeo drinks a fatal potion because he believes that Juliet is dead, but Juliet was still alive and wakes up to see to Romeo dead on the ground so she stabs herself. They both react very quickly to the situation before thinking about their friends and family; they should have thought about doing something else, like finding a new beauty just like Romeo did in the beginning. As teens form close relationships with others, they struggle to understand who they are and where they fit in; they start to form their own identity in relation to others. High school is a critical time of social development which forms these cliches. Social styles differ- some teens want to join groups, others prefer not to interact in extra curriculum activities after or during school, and then there are students that are just socially awkward. For example, some students prefer to play sports which lead them to hang out with all the athletes. Some students despise sports and so they form their own groups like the nerds or bums. Within each different cliche, there is a distinct style in their clothing. These stereotyped cliches are often classified by their clothing style which creates the groups like â€Å"preps†, â€Å"jocks†, and â€Å"nerds. † The word prep was originally used for rich students who went to expensive private schools that were well known to students from public schools. These students weren’t always snobs, and they normally did much more sophisticated things then an average middle class student. For example, instead of playing football, they played a game of polo, and shopped in Grunkemeyer2 stores like Coco Chanel, Dolce and Gabana, Christian Dior, and Gucci. They dressed on the formal end with exceptions of wearing plaid shorts, or canvas pants on casual occasions. In today’s society, we have the public school â€Å"snobby preps†. Snobby preps are the people that everybody loves, but hates at the same time. The prep is the boy or girl that is concerned with the way they look. They can usually see themselves on the cover of a Ralph Lauren catalogue or modeling for Abercrombie and Fitch because of their great looks and style. The prep usually dresses nice everyday to school and swears to the bible to never wear sweatpants to school or wear the same outfit more than twice. The prep would never want to be caught at Goodwill, The Dollar Store, or Wal-Mart shopping for clothes. Brands like Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Hollister, Abercrombie, and Coach are the stores they prefer to shop at and whenever they need money, they just ask their daddy. Their personality is usually outgoing and they are very involved in activities. The popularity of themselves may be the product of their happiness. There would be no one for the prep to date if we didn’t have the jocks. There would be no school spirit if we didn’t have the jock guys and gals. Jocks tend to be those star athletes that have the confidence that relies on cockiness. Oh wait, it is cockiness. As a jock, they must have a high self-esteem that gives them the right to be popular. Being a jock isn’t as easy as it sounds; you have to love the sport you play, and enjoy the pressure of being so good. After all, the entire school is counting on them to win and get that winning title. Jocks feel lucky for who they are because they get many perks for being an athlete. First, they can come to school every day wearing Nike, Under Armour, or Michael Jordan clothes looking like a bum and not be judged on their looks. The girls can go without doing their hair and wear it in a messy bun and the boys can go without matching cloths and no one will say a thing to the athlete. Of course, you can’t Grunkemeyer3 forget the free spirit apparel that gets given to them so they can have a new pair of sweatpants and t-shirt for everyday of the week. Second; if they are good enough, their grades won’t matter because they’ll be going to college on an athletic scholarship. Don’t be ashamed, the jock physically earned their way there! Unlike a jock, where everybody praises them, literally everyone: the team, coaches, teachers, students, family, and the community. Then there are people like the nerds who get picked on because people look down on them. The nerds are very shy, wear unflattering clothes, and have a congestion problem, so what? They have the brains. Who cares what everyone else thinks, they still have friends and way more success for their future. The nerds might blame it on the thick crooked lensed glasses or high water jeans because they cannot get â€Å"Ms/Mr. Perfect† to date them. However, it’s the Harry Potter, Star Wars, and science fiction shirts that no one understands and stops them from getting a date. It could also be their whitie tighties or grandma underwear that is still hanging out from the wedgie they got after gym class. Nerds are very insecure when it comes to fashion. Unfortunately, they will not go outside their box when it comes to clothing, but they will go out of the box when it comes to math or science. Since they can’t score â€Å"Ms/Mr. Perfect† they established a great group of friends that they can do math problems with on the weekends. No moment is ever dull in a nerd’s life. Fashion can tell a lot about a person. What kind of clothes someone wears can allow people to label them and make stereotypes. Stereotypes will classify you in to a cliche, which is what everyone has to deal with even outside of high school. The most common cliches are the preps and the snobs. They dress to impress by wearing the best of best name brands and wear Grunkemeyer4 them every day as they walk down the hall judging other’s outfits. Dual Band Bandpass Filter Using Meandered Ring Resonator Dual band bandpass filter using Meandered ring resonator using loaded DGS Mariselvam V, Raju S Abstract Compact microstrip dual-band bandpass filter (DBBPF) with high selectivity and good suppression for wireless local area networks (WLANs) is proposed utilizing a novel embedded scheme resonator loaded ring resonator DGS. Two passbands are produced by a pair of embedded half-wavelength meandered stepped-impedance resonator (MSIR) and a quad wavelength short stub loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SIR) separately. The loaded DGS avoids the cross talk in the pass band which is useful to achieve very sharp cutoff in the pass band. The resonator is fed by folded T Shaped capacitive source-load coupling microstrip feed line, and four transmission zeros are obtained at both sides of the bands to improve selectivity and suppression. Simultaneously, the size of the filter is extremely compact because embedding half-wavelength MSIR only changes the interior configuration of quad-wavelength SIR. To validate the design method, the designed filter is fabricated and measured. Both simulated and me asured results indicate that good transmission property has been achieved. Introduction BPFs are important block in RF front-to-end and have drawn much attention since they can reject the useless signals. In [1–3], miniaturized BPFs with high selectivity and enhanced out-of-band performance are designed for wireless communication systems. In recent years, with the development of different wireless standards, such as global system for mobile communication (GSM), wireless local-area network (WLAN) and world interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), designing multi-band BPFs with miniaturized size, high selectivity and controllable frequencies has become a trend. In [4–6], compact and high selectivity dual-band BPFs are designed by two sets of resonators, stepped-impedance resonators (SIR) and stub-loaded resonators, respectively. For dual-band BPF designs, various approaches have been studied. A simple effective method is to utilize two or three sets of resonators [7–10]. In [7], a high selectivity dual-band BPF is designed by using coupled stepp ed impedance resonators. Each set of resonators operates at a pass band, resulting in controllable frequencies. Unfortunately, it has large size due to the multi-sets of resonators. In this a novel Meandered stepped impedance resonator with loaded DGS is utilized to achieve the desired dual pass band and the size is reduced. The two passbands are generated through respective resonators. High selectivity is obtained by the introduction of several finite attenuation poles in stopband. Compared with the conventional dual band filter, the filter is smaller in size and better in performance. 2. Analysis of stepped impedance resonator To design a DBBPF using SIRs, the properties of SIR must be analyzed first. As shown in Fig. 1, the basic structure of half-wavelength SIR consists of two lines of different characteristic impedances Z1 and Z2 and electrical lengths ÃŽ ¸1 and ÃŽ ¸2. It can be treated as two uniform cells (cell A and cell B). The resonance conditions can be obtained from one of them since the half-wavelength SIR is symmetrical [10]. The impedance of the resonator can be calculated as expression According to the above equation, the resonance appears when Zin is infinite, namely the denominator is equal to zero. As a result, the following expression can be obtained as the resonance condition Where Rz is the impedance ratio. In expression (2), we can see that the resonance conditions are determined by ÃŽ ¸1, ÃŽ ¸2 and Rz. It can adjust these three factors to obtain the resonance that we required, and a dual mode filter can be designed by using SIR. Design of DBBPF Fig. 2 shows the transformation process to design an embedded-scheme resonator for DBBPF. In Fig.2 (a) a quad-wavelength short stub loaded SIR is shown. To reduce its size, the SIR is folded as an open-loop. Additionally, the low impedance lines of quad-wavelength short stub loaded SIR are broad enough to provide area for a small resonator, which make it possible to embed a pair of small coupling resonators. So, we replace the low impedance lines with a pair of meandered SIRs, which is shown in Fig. 2(b). To achieve a high performance dual-band filter, it is necessary to introduce transmission zeros at both sides of the bands. Due to the existence of DGS, magnetic coupling takes up dominant position on the short stub loaded SIR shown in Fig. 2(a). On the other hand, as the embedded MSIR is folded as an open-loop, it has the maximum electric field density at the side with an open gap, and the maximum magnetic field density at the opposite side. If the sides with the maximum magnetic f ield of two coupled resonators are proximately placed, the magnetic coupling can be obtained. Therefore, the coupling between the half wavelength SIR loops is also magnetic [15]. So, transmission zeros near the two pass bands can be generated by feeding microstrip feed line with capacitive source-load coupling, which because the counteraction between electric field and magnetic field. Filter Configuration Fig.3.T shaped stub loaded resonator Fig. 2 shows the configuration of the proposed micro strip dual-band BPF. It is composed of two sets of resonators. The outer resonators are stub-loaded resonators operating at the first and two pass band frequencies, i.e., 3.68 GHz and 7.01 GHz. Fig.3 illustrate the configuration of the resonator. It consists of a transmission line of length and a T-shaped stub loaded at the line centre is the overall length of the lines, namely L. L= B1+2d1+2f1+2C2+s1+2f1 Open-circuited coupled-lines with the length C2and gap C1 are employed to realize electrical coupling. Two transmission lines with the characteristic impedance of 50à ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¦ are connected to the outer resonators, acting as input and output ports. Embedded between the two outer resonators, the inner resonators 2 and3 are used to yield the second pass band at f2. The inner resonators are fed by the outer ones. CSRR DGS UNIT The Ring Resonator structures are designed and produced by applying the Babinet principle to the split ring resonators (SRR). In this way structures with apertures in metal surface are obtained and these CSRRs create negative ÃŽ µ instead of negative ÃŽ ¼ in a narrow range near the resonance frequency. In microstrip technology, left handed Metamaterial structures exhibiting band stop behaviour can be implemented by etching CSRRs in the ground plane, underneath the conductor strip, and along the series capacitive gaps. The gap provides a negative value of the effective permeability up to certain frequency that depends on gap dimensions and separation. The negative ÃŽ µ structure has been obtained by loading a microstrip line with CSRR particles as shown in Fig.4. There are many different parameters that affect resonance frequency of CSRR, most dominant being the permittivity of the substrate and length of the resonator. The resonance frequency is inversely proportional to the length o f the resonator and is directly proportional to the split gap of the resonator. It is considered that the CSRR particle is etched only in the ground plane. CSRR etching depth decides the strength of the resonance increases [12]-[13] In order to improve the sharper cut-off, compact in size and harmonic suppression ability of the conventional dual band pass filter a CSRR is loaded in the bottom of the filter. The CSRR is designed at the anti-resonance frequency. Inherent nature of anti-resonance behaviour, it rejects the frequencies above cut-off frequency. In this way we achieved sharp cut-off.the dimensions of the ring resonator is given in Table.1. 6. Simulated and measured results To validate the characteristics, the proposed dual band filter is fabricated and measured in a FR4 substrate with a relative dielectric constant 4.4 a thickness of 1.6mm has been used in this paper. 50 ohms microstrip feed line with a width of 2.2mm is located at both of the input and output ports.fig 6 shows the photograph of the fabricated dual band filter. Fig.7. depicts the simulated and measured results of the proposed filter simultaneously. Here CST microwave studio is used for simulation and an Agilent network analyser N5230A is used for measurement. The simulated / measured minimum insertion losses are 0.65/0.985dB respectively at 3.684GHz band and 0.98/1.35dB respectively at 7.01 GHz. The size of the proposed layout is 14.5mmX19.9mm. Conclusion In this paper, a dual band filter designed by embedded resonator loaded with ring resonator DGS was presented. A t-shaped embedded resonator with capacitive source –load coupling is used for feeding and multiple transmission zeros are created and DGS ring resonator is loaded to improve the performance of the filter. Goethe learned to discipline his passions and he developed a greater balance between emotion and reason.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Now that we have some background on Goethe, we can focus on his questions of analyzing art. These three questions are as follows: (1) What is the artist trying to do?, (2) How well does the artist do it?, and (3) Is it worth doing? His is a story that I don’t come across very often. I believe Mr. Shepard wrote this play to bring a variety into the theatre, as well as writing about something he knows and has lived through. Just the fact that this story is his life memory brings feeling and passion to the script. Perhaps I’m digging this too deep, but it is one thing to make up a story, and another to actually have been there. What is the artist trying to do? In my opinion, Shepard is sharing his past, as well as offer a lesson to be learned. This story could bring about different feelings; anywhere from appreciation of what one has to complete and utter boredom.
